Project Tutu

Salam,

My first DIY / Step by step entry..and what better way to kickstart the inner Martha Stewart in me than to do the most frilliest, girliest thing there is: a ballerina tutu!!! So schweettt!

So what to i need for this project?
My toddler is 1 1/2 years old and needed 4 meters of tulle / kain net.. and 1 1/2 meters of ribbon.

ok..easy peasy so far kan?

Take the ribbon and wrap around toddler's waist.. tie a simple knot at both ends that meet at the back.. this will show the length of the ribbon that needs to be wrapped later.. take a lighter to burn the ends so that it doesn't fray. Now either tie the ribbon on your thigh/chair anything..so that it's tight. i used my daughter's plastic toy box since she dumped the content all over the living room area  (-_-)"

Step 1
So you will need to measure the desired length of the tutu and multiple it by 2.. eg. i wanted a 7inch tutu..so the length that i need to cut is 14inches. The width (lebar) of each strip should be approximately 6inches each.

Step 2
Take several strips of the tulle and arrange them on top of each other. The more strips you use for each section, the puffier the tutu will be. I used 3 strips.. 2 pink & 1 blue.

Step 3
Put ur index finger in between the tulle (in the middle). Pull down.

Step 4
Take the ends of the tulle and put it in through the hole at the top.

Step 5
Pull the end real tight and push it to the end where it'll stop at knot.

Step 6
Repeat until u reach the other knot!

Aaaaand you're done! Take the tutu and tie the ribbon at the back of your little ballerina! She'll be a happy little ballerina twirling around... (my daughter kept saying Wow!Wow! wow!)

Hope you all enjoyed the tutorial! A nice video tutorial can be found at youtube.

Yellow White Engagement Hantaran Set

Salam semua!

Today's entry is about a recently done Yellow and White themed hantaran for En Fahmi's engagement. Flowers used were specifically requested (untuk tahan the long drive to JB from KL), yellow orchids, white ping pong flowers, creamy yellow carnations, yellow peacocks, yellow statice flowers and leaves

A little DIY tip for long distance fresh flower arrangements that I learnt from Majalah Pengantin DIY segment was to use those wreath ring/donut shaped oasis covered with a papan cake.. easy to bring around.. nothing rolls out or gets out of shape.. tahan pon tahan since the oasis soaks up alot of water (berat ookays). I'll do a step-by-step photo DIY entry later. :)

Going back to the subject.. the list of hantarans are as follows:

1) Tepak Sirih

2) Chocolate

3) Fruits
